Our History

1894 - D. Cosme Palacio establishes the winery, converting it into the most advanced in the Rioja Alavesa.

1899 - First vintage of our Cosme Palacio y Hermanos wine.

1917 - First vintage of the iconic Glorioso brand.

1962 - The group arrives in Latin America to open new markets.

1986 - The new Cosme Palacio, with the input of wine consultant Michel Rolland, is the first in a new style of modern Rioja.

1986 - Bodegas Viña Mayor is founded in the Ribera del Duero's Golden Mile, a symbol of contemporary Ribera.

1990- The launch of a revolutionary wine: Milflores. A fresh, innovative style with an attractive, ground-breaking image.

1999 - Finca Anzil, in the heart of the D.O. Toro, joins the group

2000 - The historic Caserío de Dueñas estate, with four centuries of agricultural experience in the D.O. Rueda joins the group.

2014 - Cosme Palacio named “top Spanish Red” by the World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists.

2015 - Completion of the renovation work in Bodegas Palacio, modernising the facilities to continue on our path towards quality and excellence.

2016 - 95 Peñín points for Cosme Palacio 1894, our iconic wine.

2016 - Caserío de Dueñas is born under the Viña Mayor name, two unique wines that are the fruit of selected vineyards.

2017 - Launch of "LA PODA", the cutting edge, food-friendly range created by Almudena Alberca MW

2018 - El Aeronauta, 100% lees-aged Godello, opening the pathway for new winemaking styles with an innovative character from the D.O Valdeorras.

2020 -  Cosme Palacio Crianza 2017, selected as the "Best Red Crianza" to represent the wines in this category from the Rioja Designation of Origin. At the same time, Cosme Palacio became part of James Suckling's "Top 100 Wines of Spain"

2021 - Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos is the new name given to Grupo Bodegas Palacio 1894 to define its new strategic direction in the promotion of prestigious wines, with Gonzalo Entrecanales as Chairman.
